This essay will discuss the cyclical processes which may be observed out of the structure and composition of the deciduous forest ecosystem in Britain, but using some North American examples.  The basic structure of the forest ecosystem will be discussed along with cyclical processes which include succession. Both primary and secondary succession will be discussed. The cyclical processes which may be observed in community structure include the concept of defoliation. The cyclical processes of composition include the food chain and web, bio-genetics and how diversity relates to succession and climax.
