The conclusion is as follows: The four traditions of Geography outlined by Pattison, I think are at the core of the geography tradition but not necessarily of those divisions. Cultural geography would come first. This would encompose human geography the study of humans within a landscape setting. This is humanity’s ability to develop a society and thought that enables them to become aware of their existence beyond the needs of basic ecology and survival. Once this has been accomplished humanity can look at their place on this planet and in the universe from which they arose.
